## Story: Meeting the Local Lord
An emissary from Lord Arn arrives at the island. He is put off by
the speaking peacock and Gertrude's gentle diplomacy, but he does invite
her to the Midsummer Celebration at the manor. At a market trip
a few days later, they meet him again, and one of his men is caught
spying on them. He claims to do so out of personal curiosity.
They also meet a commoner who has a cousin who is looking for a post
as a maid.
At the party at the manor, she gets to talk to the lord in person.
It seems that he has no other agenda than claiming taxes for the land,
at an annual rate of 1d pro capita. Gertrude agrees but asks for a
one-year delay to build up mining industry. The lord is worried that
the mine will drain workers from the area, but when Gertrude promises
to get them from far away, he has no qualms about letting them mine
on his land, subject to taxes of course.
Gertrude does recruit Sigrið Finnsdottir as a maid.
# Autumn
Magnus visits, and Andreas goes with him to meet the Lord Einar who
rules the lands just South of Stockholm.
While they are there, some of Einar's men return from being raided
at the mines. Some investigation reveals that raiders have come from
Finland or Åland at irregular intervals over the years.
The covenant was expecting Luthold to come to take charge of the trade
post, but when the ship arrives, they learn that Luthold has been captured
by pirates after negotiating a promise of a ransom in return for letting
the ship go.

Artal fries the leader of the raiders and the main guards, and the rest of
them flee. Thus the rest of the party only has to collect the hostages
and return home.
