Born and raised at Rheinstein covenant where he was trained as a scribe.
But he was at Durenmar, copying books for his employers, when Rheinstein fell to the bishops mob. With no home to return to, he stayed on at Durenmar. While at Durenmar, he was caught up in an incident in a lab, which affected his circadian rhythm - he became nocturnal.
He later moved to Lubeck when he heard (false) rumours that the Magi there were planning an *Expedition to the North*. But 10 years later, he is still in Lubeck - the expedition never happened.

He works as a freelance scribe - some evenings he works as a private tutor for wealthy townsfolk and at night, he generally works for the mages, transcribing lab notes or copying texts, etc.
He is currently renting a room in the norther sector with widow Adelheid Klein (her husband died fighting in the holyland) but when not working he can be found at the Novgorod tavern where he will read & write letters for townsfolk for "just a couple of pennies and a small beer".

He has also noticed that he is not getting any older, he does not know why for certain, but he thinks maybe it another side-effect of the lab incident at Durenmar. Although he well liked around town, his *eternal youth* and odd, nocturnal lifestyle (which results in a poor attendance at mass, especially in summer months), will at some point cause a problem.
It is time he got out of Lubeck.
