Crintera, the Domus Magna of House Bjornaer, is hidden in a multi level regio deep in the forests on the isle of Rugen.

Residents

Aside from the servants, there are only six permanent residents, each a representative of one of the six clans that make up the house.

There are also a number of guests in residence at the covenant.

• Caprea - Recently blinded the familiar of a visiting Jerbiton magus from Oculus Septentrionalis, Carolus.

Clan Iltefu

Iltefu is the smallest of the Bjornaer clans, there are only 7 members.

• Artal. Recently gauntleted, initially apprenticed to Phillipa of clan Sirnas. Stayed at Crintera, studying under Ardea.

Initiations of Clan Iltefu

Clan Iltefu is the keeper of the House mysteries, as such each member of the clan is expected to learn all the house rituals, so that they may perform the initiations for other members of the house.
Once the mystagogue has mastered the House mysteries, he will be instructed in the Clan mysteries.
A Mystagogue often learns the rituals while undergoing initiation himself, however, it is not necessary to undergo the initiations to be able to perform them. The process of initiating others is much easier if the mystagogue has already been initiated.

The Mystery of the Heartbeast (House)

The most important function of the clan - one that the entire house depends on - is the initiation of the Heartbeast in all Bjornaer apprentices. Without this knowledge the house would cease to be. Thus it is vital for the continuity of the house that young Iltefu magi are taught this rite as soon as possible.

1. Peacocks are native to the Indian subcontinent. The Romans farmed them for meat but populations in Europe are not likely to have survived the dark ages, except maybe the extreme south-east. Magi from Constantinople may be familiar with the Peacock.
