Redcaps after the Schism
The Redcaps have suffered from many Diedne raids, and towards the end of the Schism war. On the British Isles, all the Mercere Portals have been destroyed, as well as all the any independent Mercere Houses. The regular mail routes that are generally assumed in the 13th Century do not exist. Itineraries vary, and quite a few redcaps travel across Europe, rarely visiting the same covenant twice. Many claim residency at Harco, while spending years on the road at a time.
There are a couple of redcaps with known abode in the vicinity.
- Two or three redcaps maintain a base at Ungulus. They make regular visits into Loch Leglean and Hibernia as well as Stonehenge.
- A couple of redcaps maintain a base at Fudarus in Bretagne, as well as a merchant ship with which they travel in the Irish Sea, making sure to visit Ungulus every year. At Fudarus, they also have a Mercere Portal to Durenmar.
Other redcaps may be encountered. One or two lead anonymous lives, acting mainly as scouts or spies in the Schism War. Other travel from other tribunals.
