The magi have learnt of double taxation at the Tradepost at Saint Michael
- Location known as O’Briensbridge on modern maps
Sean, Raymond, Aed, and Conlae go to investigate
They meet Murphy the caretaker who explains the situation.
- Both Tormac and Lord Protector levy taxes under the excuse that they prepare for war with the other
Brother Raymond objects to the prostitution taking place in Murphy’s establishment.
They talk to Brennan the Carpenter who has set up shop just outside the palisade.
They go to Killaloe to talk to Tormac
- Tormac agrees to post a garrison at St Michael if Elk’s Run provide for them
- The magi will build a watchtower and possibly a moat to increase defences.
- Tormac needs more scouts in the border order if he is to be able to intercept Lord Protector’s tax collectors.
